Sensing Running

Sensing Running Statement

For me going for a run is like singing a song. The run divides up into sections shaped by stretches of the path and as I run through it like phrases of a melody. The physicality of running is essentially rhythmic as my breathing aligns to the cadence of my stride.

These images portray landscapes through the practice of running.

I am interested in exploring landscape not merely as an object of perception, as a view to be looked at, but as an environment within which we dwell and, more importantly move. Seeing a landscape takes time and is fundamentally an act performed by the viewer in relationship with the view.

This photography project is informed by photography theory and philosophy, particularly phenomenology.
